The challenges of winter car care

For the car enthusiasts winter brings its own set of challenges to maintaining their vehicles in tip top condition and appearance. The everyday onslaught from salt-gritted roads, defrosting screens and windows as well as the inevitable wet muddy footwear in footwells.

The Protection Zone – car care range not only assists you to maintain the look of your car’s paintwork “like a pro” with its 9h nano ceramic Dura HD , but also to prevent everyday family use taking its toll on the upholstery, carpets and dash through stain prevention and easy cleaning coatings.

Car paintwork

Let’s get dirty and talk about mud, spray and gritting salt which, regardless of whether you drive in the countryside, town or motorways, short or long journeys, your car paintwork comes in contact with these abrasive contaminants. Over time, the fine particles in mud cause scratches, spray and gritting salt are corrosive, dulling the shine and leaving stains.

Car paintwork can be protected from winter damage by using Dura, a nano-ceramic coating that fuses to the synthetic and metallic substrates of car bodywork and alloy wheels with up to 9H hardness (Dura HD). This provides a superior non-stick, easy-clean micro-barrier, which prevents the ‘grit’ within mud and spray residues from scratching the paintwork during cleaning.

Not only does Dura give a scratch resistant finish to paintwork and protect it from UV damage, it also enhances the colour and gloss to bring out the full depth of pigment , as well as facilitating de-icing.

Windscreens

Winter driving comes with additional hazards : reduced light, low sun as well as increased water spray and mud, which can stick and smear thus reducing visibility.  ScreenGuard™ is an easy-clean, non-stick nano-coating for windscreens that doesn’t impair the optical value of the glass – while creating a hydrophobic (water repellent) and oleo-phobic (oil repellent) finish. It causes rainwater droplets to form as ‘beads’ on the windscreen, which then disperse rapidly with airflow, and creates a surface to which contaminants will be less able to stick to, and hence run off the glass within the water droplets.

Year after year we are reminded that to drive with only a partly cleared screen is an offence; the need to defrost our frozen windscreen is always a surprise and one we never have time for. Screenguard nano-coating aids de-icing on windscreens while Anti-Mist quickly disperses the condensation that forms on the inside of the windscreen and mirrors, avoiding the need to wipe – which can often leave smears.

Car upholstery

The upholstery and children’s car seats in the average family car also experience a rough ride – from coffee and juice spills, food crumbs and wrappers as well as wet and muddy footwear – Car Leather and Textile Treatment protects against day-to-day winter soiling.

Car Leather and Textile Treatment can be used on both leather and textile interiors. The treatment gives textiles water and dirt repellence – and has been created as a water based , easy-to-apply fluorine-free solution (so less harmful to the environment than many solvent based products).

Soft tops

Soft Top / Cabriolet Waterproofer can also be used on seating but since it protects against soiling from oil as well as water and dirt, it is ideal for use on cabriolet soft tops – especially for those that are used all year round or not stored undercover in the winter.

All in all, Protection Zone adds up to a total protection package for your car.
