Showerguard™ Application Instructions
After a quick and simple limescale and contamination removal, Showerguard™ will provide long term protection against the adhesion of limescale deposits and other contaminants such as soapy water, enabling easier cleaning of your shower screen.
Showerguard™ can only adhere to totally clean and dry glass. Dirt and grease (including finger-print marks) must therefore be removed using the glass pre-cleaning product before applying.
Use gloves during application.
---------------
For showers/glass that has been in use for some time where contamination has built up, remove existing limescale and staining by following the Limescale and residue removal instructions below: -
Limescale and residue removal:- Spray the limescale remover all over the glass surface from top down. Leave for twenty minutes for full activation, then return to rinse heavily with water using cloth (not provided) to rub away all residues; then dry thoroughly.
Note: If all limescale and contaminants are not removed on first attempt, re-apply, ensuring glass is completely clean and clear and then continue to Step 1 below.
----------------
For newly installed shower glass that has not been in use, continue to follow the instructions below (retain the limescale remover for other cleaning and de-scaling tasks): -
Coating glass (and ceramic) surfaces with Showerguard™
1.Preparation of glass surface with Pre-clean
Ensure glass is dry, and clear of grease and dirt. Spray the inside of the glass screen with Pre-clean and rub the product into the glass surface with the pre-cleaning cloth (white). Divide the surface into sections for treatment of about 0.25m2 to minimise rapid evaporation of the product.
The glass is ready for coating application when streak formation from the Pre-clean is no longer evident. Apply the Showerguard™ coating immediately after the whole glass surface has been pre-cleaned and is dry and smooth.
- Coating with Showerguard™
After pre-cleaning, spray Showerguard™ onto the inside glass surface, ensuring good coverage. Spread the product around the glass surface with the coating cloth (blue) to ensure complete coverage of the surface.
Because of the rapid evaporation of the product, divide glass panes into sections for treatment of about 0.25m2. After spraying each section of glass, polish in one operation with the coating cloth. Continue to polish until the surface feels totally smooth. Each 30ml bottle should cover approximately 3m2 of glass. Use any excess product to treat the outside of your screen, or any other ceramics or porcelain, following the above pre-cleaning steps.
Reaction time, quality control and maintenance
Immediately after the application of Showerguard™, nano-particles form a strong bond with the glass surface in a chemical reaction.
The Showerguard™ surface can be handled immediately after coating. Whilst rapid bonding takes place between the coating and the glass, allow 24hrs at 20°C room temperature before using the shower for the coating to become completely inert. Your Showerguard™ coating is in action immediately, inhibiting the adhesion of lime-scale and other contaminants. Frequency of cleaning will be dictated by conditions, water content and use. For best results, rubber blade after each use to remove droplets from any repelled limescale and soap residue.
For cleaning use a detergent-free, non-abrasive household glass-cleaning product. Whilst it is possible to use other mild detergents (pH 7), aggressive detergents can cause temporary damage to the surface, and should not be used. Do not use “spray and leave” cleaning products.
Residue build-up can be removed quickly and easily by using the appropriate glass cleaner and agitation from a soft cleaning implement. White vinegar with water works well. Avoid perfumed cleaning products or those containing a high level of surfactants. Do not use abrasive scrubbing equipment for cleaning.
Ventilate area of application, as coatings contain alcohol. If applying in non-ventilated areas, Pre-Clean and Showerguard™ may be sprayed onto cloths and wiped-on to avoid alcohol fumes.
